I am a singer, songwriter, theatremaker and performer from Ireland and based in Brighton. I am an associate artist of Glór and my work is produced by Farnham Maltings. Farnham Maltings supports, collaborates with and invests in artists to make new theatre and reach new audiences.

 

1982 born in a town in the Canadian prairies, the third daughter of a third daughter.

1983 moved to Ireland and screamed a lot. Good strong vocal cords.

1988 stage debut as Goldilocks. I had them at "Hello everybody and welcome to Fairyland"

1995 all-girls convent secondary school. Learned piano. Lots of mass, lots of hymns, no boys

1999 played Jesus in school musical Jesus Christ Superstar. Wore white bikini on the cross.

2000 Specsavers 'Look of 2000'

2001 played Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar.

2002 met a guy called MJ in a pub, told him I liked to sing, he turned up at my house the next day with a guitar. Elephant was born.

2003 played leper number 2 in Jesus Christ Superstar.

2004 recorded and released an album with Elephant, In the Moon.

2005 got a call from Stuart Murdoch of Belle and Sebastian who invited me to audition for a girl group. Emigrated to Scotland.

2006 big passionate messy relationship prompted me to write sad angry songs. Then fell madly in love all over again.

2007 sang some demos with Stuart. I was his guinea pig. It was fun.

2008 recorded an album with Belle and Sebastian. Go Away Birds was formed.

2009 God Help the Girl released on Rough Trade and Matador. Toured with the band. Go Away Birds releases two more EPs and tours UK and Ireland - busy year!

2010 one more Go Away Birds EP, trip to Thailand, bought a piano, moved to Brighton to do a masters then quit but decided to stay

2011 returned to acting, began relearning how to play piano, wrote lots with the help of Paul Sand, first solo performance

2012 set up //TreasureTracks//- secret gigs in Brighton

2013 met wonderful Gavin Stride who invited me to be part of the Farnham Maltings family. voice of a Japanese shampoo commercial.

2014 a backstage musical, UK tour of a show about elephants and people, an EP 'Pieces of Me', Edinburgh fringe (lots of learning!), an archaeology museum piece,  a solo walk of the Camino de Santiago, Clore 42

2015 a show set in a hair salon. performances in Seoul and Hong Kong.  music for people with Alzheimers. Started swimming in the fast lane.

2016 won the Brighton Fringe Latest Music award with Leaving home party, made and toured In good hands and sang songs in korean in a railway station in Seoul.

2017 toured to china for the Macau fringe festival, invited to become a member of the Glór family and currently testing my courage with For all the fires not yet lit.
