In this piece the audience listen to eight melting ice lanterns through eight separate channels. Small lightbulbs sit within each block of ice and the light is triggered by the sound of the drips landing below. As the piece develops the droplets generate the playing of pre-recorded notes, creating a live ephemeral composition. The pre-recorded audio is taken from the storage facility at the Millennium Seedbank in Haywards Heath, Sussex which aims to collect all of the world's wild flora to insure against ecological crisis in response to habitat loss. Thousands of tiny seeds from all around the world are kept there, frozen in artificial dormancy.

Eight Years is a collaboration between Catherine Ireton and J. Luis Berna Moya with audio recordings by Marleen Boshchen and Charles Pryor.
